There are memories with a texture that photographs and video cannot fill. Our art was born from that wish.
Washi and hyogu are crafts refined over centuries to record, preserve, and give dignity to what matters most. The new purpose comes first, and these techniques connect to it as the means. As a result, an old craft gains a new role and carries on into the next era.
This is the first proof of purpose-first real craft by Make A-.

KARUKURA is a furnished-rental service run by Strategic Insights, Inc., and Make A- takes part in it as a joint business partner. Living and housing are coordinated from both sides, space and furniture, and rented for only as long as you need: a new form of housing that does not presume ownership.
“What we sell is not furniture, but the experience of a well-arranged life.” Reframing the business from its purpose, we design who it should reach and what it should value. From lifestyle design, space and room coordination and furniture selection to sales catalogs and digital tools, we take charge of space production and creative work.
Furniture that still has life in it moves on to its next home before its role ends. Purpose-first thinking runs through this mechanism too, one that keeps real value alive instead of discarded.
